Damascena Rose Essential Oils of Kashan
The most valuable product derived from Damask rose (Rosa damascena) is its essential oil, which is produced through the steam distillation of fresh rose petals. This oil is 100% natural and organic.
Three types of essential oil are extracted from the Damask rose:
1- First Type
2- Second Type
3- Complete Oil (a combination of types 1 and 2)
The first type of rose essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of fresh rose petals. It appears as a yellow liquid layer floating on the surface of the rose water produced from the distillation. This oil contains components of the complete rose oil that are less soluble in water, mainly composed of saturated hydrocarbons with 14 to 23 carbon atoms. As a result, it solidifies when cooled (in the refrigerator). The majority of rose essential oil produced in Iran is currently of this type.
If the rose water obtained from the first distillation (known as first rose water) is distilled again with steam, the second type of rose essential oil and second rose water are obtained. This oil also appears as a yellow liquid layer on the surface of the second rose water. However, it is approximately twice the amount of the first type, and its quality is much higher, containing the most fragrant components of the Damask rose. This oil does not solidify when refrigerated.
The most valuable product from Damask roses, often referred to as “Liquid Gold,” is the complete rose essential oil, obtained by combining the first and second types. This oil is produced in industrial rose processing factories worldwide and is commercially sold after undergoing necessary analyses. It is currently produced in very limited quantities in Iran. It is also widely used in perfume, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and food. The complete oil separates into two parts: a part known as stearoptene and the other called oleoptene. The stearoptene fraction makes up about 15-20% of the complete oil and consists of saturated hydrocarbons with 14 to 23 carbon atoms (C14-C23). Due to the non-volatile nature of these hydrocarbons, this fraction does not have a strong scent. The oleoptene is a clear yellow liquid that dissolves easily in 70% alcohol and contains highly aromatic alcohols like geraniol, citronellol, nerol, and 2-phenylethanol (Phenethyl Alcohol), along with small but important amounts of esters and other fragrant compounds.
These aromatic alcohols make up about 70-75% of the complete oil. Despite this, other components in the oil, such as sulfur-containing compounds, though small in amount (about 5-10% of the total oil), significantly influence the fragrance. This effect is so unique that even manually blending the known components of the oil cannot replicate the exact scent of the natural complete rose oil. Therefore, no synthetic rose oil can match the quality or aroma of the natural one.
Natural Absolute Rose oil
Our Rose Absolute Oil is meticulously crafted from 4 tons of hand-harvested roses from the renowned Qamsar region in Kashan. Utilizing state-of-the-art distillation equipment from Tournaire, France, our process yields exceptional quality. In the first distillation phase, 50 grams of initial essence is extracted from every 500 kilograms of roses. In the second distillation phase, 100 grams of pure essence is obtained. The final Rose Absolute Oil, color-coded red, is a blend of the first and second distillations in a 1:3 and 2:3 ratio respectively, resulting in a premium, oil-like consistency. This product meets the ISO 9842 standard for unparalleled quality.
Organic/Demetri Absolute Rose Oil
Our Rose Absolute Oil is meticulously crafted from 4 tons of hand-harvested roses from the renowned Qamsar region in Kashan. Water-Soluble Rose Essence
Derived from the Qamsar region in Kashan, this Water-Soluble Rose Essence is produced through the re-distillation of rosewater from the second phase of essence extraction. It effectively separates aromatic compounds without any additives. The white-coded essence dissolves seamlessly in water, with 1 gram of this essence yielding 1.5 liters of 24% rosewater. This high-quality essence conforms to ISO 9842 standards.
Rosewater
In rosewater production process, about 240 lit water add to 100 kg rose flowers. Then this mixed boiled directly. This steam is directed to the condenser and cooled, where the vapor turns into a liquid form, which is called “Golab (rosewater)”. The concentration of this rosewater is 12-15%. If this process is done again by re-adding rosewater (Golab) to the flowers and re- distilling, this is a richer rosewater gained, which called “ Golab 2-Atishe” in Iran. About 24 -25 % of this rosewater is fragrance part. This concentration is varied based on regions, distillation method, time and volume.
